16 Best Hostels In Belize 2025 (Under $16)

Backpackers are often scared away from Belize because it's been labeled as expensive. But, it's still possible to travel cheaply with if you know where to stay.

While Belize is more expensive than neighboring countries, it is possible to travel on a budget and still go visit both the reef and jungle.

Having backpacked my own country and other foreign hostels, I'd like to think I know what solo travelers prioritize which is cleanliness, location and vibe.

Let me show you the best hostels I've found in my country.

Hostel Picking Tips For Belize

Here are some important things to consider before booking a hostel in Belize.

1. During the dry season (hot), consider prioritizing a spot with air con.
2. Bugs crawl out during rainy season so be prepared to deal with them.
3. Not all hostels will be listed on HostelWorld or Booking websites.
4. Consider a shared private room with a travel partner for maximum savings.
5. Car rental is expensive in Belize so choose a place close to the center.
6. A helpful hostel owner and their staff can drastically improve your stay.

This hostel has relaxed, friendly and clean. It's 3 minutes away from the bus terminal by foot, offers free laundry and free coffee. The only downside is that the wifi is weak and the beds can be uncomfortable.

This establishment is clean, safe and comfortable. It’s located in the north of Belize City which is safer than the south. There’s a large supermarket called Brodies that has a deli inside which is perfect for local breakfast and lunch dishes.

Located in the north side of Belize city (safe area) and only 15 minutes away by foot from the bus terminal, this hostel is the perfect layover for backpackers. Keep in mind that Belize City has more expensive accommodations than the rest of the country.

The accommodation is basic with all the backpacker essentials. The street side can be noisy since it's located right on the street corner of a busy street. Location wise, it's perfect since it's also only a 15 minutes walk away by foot to the ferry terminal.
